Rates & Promotions
Learn how our USD Savings rates work, what the new-member promotional rate includes, and how daily Bitcoin payouts grow your balance.
New members joining Xapo Bank while the offer is available will earn a promotional rate of 4.6% APY on USD Savings balances up to $100,000 USD for their first 90 days of membership. Any portion of the balance above $100,000 earns the standard base rate (currently 4.1%, variable) at the same time. After the 90 days, the base rate applies to the full balance.
The promotional rate is available to new members only: members whose first membership payment settles on or after 22 September 2026, while the offer remains available.
Existing members are not eligible for the promotional rate, including members who have not previously used USD Savings. Instead, every existing member's rate increases from 3.35% to 4.1% APY on their full balance, automatically and with no time limit.
The promotional rate is available to new members who join and whose first membership payment settles between 22 September and 23 October 2026. To be eligible, your membership payment must settle within this window.
Joining within the window secures your full 90 days at the promotional rate, even though the 90 days extend well beyond 23 October. For example, a member whose payment settles on 20 October earns the promotional rate until mid-January. After the window closes, new members earn the standard variable base rate from day one.
Your 90-day promotional period begins when your first membership payment settles, and runs for 90 consecutive calendar days. The clock starts at settlement, not when you first allocate funds to USD Savings, so allocating early means more time earning at the promotional rate.
Yes. For new members, the 4.6% promotional rate applies to the first $100,000 USD of your USD Savings balance. Any balance above $100,000 earns the standard base rate (currently 4.1%, variable) at the same time. Interest on your full balance is still calculated and paid daily in Bitcoin.
If you are within your 90-day promotional period and your USD Savings balance is above $100,000, you will see two daily interest lines: one for the promotional rate on your balance up to $100,000, and one for the base rate on the remainder. Both appear in your in-app history and on your account statements. If your balance is within the cap, or once your promotional period ends, you will see a single daily interest line.
No. If you are an existing member, the 4.1% base rate applies automatically from launch. If you are a new member, the promotional rate applies automatically from the settlement of your first membership payment; simply allocate funds to USD Savings to start earning.
Interest is calculated daily on your USD Savings balance and paid out daily in Bitcoin. Your USD principal stays in dollars; only the interest is converted to and paid in BTC.
No. There are no lock-in periods and no early withdrawal penalties. Your funds stay fully liquid, and you can move money out of USD Savings at any time. Withdrawing funds during your 90-day promotional period does not pause or extend the period.
No. Rates are variable. The base rate (4.1% at launch) may change at any time.
The promotional rate is available for a limited time and Xapo Bank may close the offer to new joiners at any point. If you join while the offer is available, your full 90-day promotional period is unaffected by any later closure; it runs to your own end date. Your in-app savings view shows your rate and your personal end date.
Yes. Eligible USD deposits, including USD Savings balances, are protected by the Gibraltar Deposit Guarantee Scheme up to the US Dollar equivalent of £120,000 per member (subject to prevailing exchange rates on the compensation date).
The promotional rate is a time-limited welcome offer for new members. As an existing member, you benefit from the base rate increase from 3.35% to 4.1% APY, applied to your full balance with no cap, from launch day.
You will be notified in advance of your own end date. On day 91, your full USD Savings balance automatically earns the standard base rate (currently 4.1%, variable), your in-app view shows a single rate, and your daily payout collapses to a single interest line. No action is needed, and your funds remain fully liquid throughout.
